The third business breakfast organised by RuGBC took place on 24 August 2010 in Cushman & Wakefield’s office situated in Ducat Place III business centre – the first business centre to be certified under BREEAM. The event was devoted to the low rise housing in Russia and prospects for its development. The speakers from Kaskad Family, NBESR and Asadov architectural studio gave their presentations; the event was sponsored by Ekvator company – producer of eco-insulation materials. Over 40 people attended the event including RuGBC members and other organisations.
Speakers shared their views about low rise housing technologies and relevant challenges in Russia and abroad.
Valery Mishchenko, Chairman of the Board of Kaskad Family company, introduced the history of low-rise housing and dwelled on the current situation and important factors that professionals in this area need to take into account.
Armen Khachikyan, executive director of NBESR (National Bureau for Ecological Standards and Ratings) spoke about the first real estate green standard – EcoVillage. He spoke about the stages of the project, good and not so good examples from experience and made conclusions about the traits characteristic of low-rise housing in Russia.
Andrey Asadov from Asadov architectural studio shared the concept of affordable and green housing for Russian conditions using biological approach to design and dwelled on one of his projects – Loskutki district.
Alexey Polyakov, Chairman of the RuGBC Board awarded the certificates to the new RuGBC members: ISG Olson, Lutron Electronics and Colliers International.
After the presentations all the participants had a chance to network and some of them expressed an opinion that despite many difficulties low rise housing market has all the chances that green building standards will be introduced. The process is likely to be driven both by developers and buyers.
