RuGBC announces 10 new Green Building Initiatives for 2014-15
The initiatives were announced at the Spring Annual General Meeting which was held online from Sochi and Moscow on 29th May 2014. All the initiatives are described in detail in a new section of our website
1. 2014 Showroom in Sochi / Partners Club
As part of the Sochi Izermetinsky Bird Sanctuary RuGBC is in discussions to construct a visitor centre & HQ for the sanctuary, as well as space for RuGBC and partner activities. Located at section Seven of the bird sanctuary, not far from the Olympic Park.
2. 2014 Green Book - catalogue of materials and technologies for Green Building
The Green Book - project to popularise and support the growth of Green Building solutions. Information for architects and project managers covering environmental information, energy efficiency, economic and innovative resources, materials, technologies and services.
3. 2014 National green building recognition program
The National green building program is aimed at identifying sustainable architects, management and construction companies in 7 nominations in 2014 (including widespread entries from many organisations, individuals and students
4. Sustainable Social Infrastructure
Sustainable Social Infrastructure forms an important element of developing a sustainable environment for ourselves and future generations.
Such Infrastructure consists of:
- "Green Schools, Educational Institutes, Kindergarten;
- Social Housing;
- All types of public buildings.
5. Всемирная неделя экологического строительства - ваш вклад
Green Building Week is celebrated around the globe amongst the growing professional sustainability community and this year will be between 22-26th September 2014. All the activities are shown via the World GBC Site
6. Green Sheds
Retail, warehouses and factory premises are a fast growing and important sector of the construction industry. An increasing number are being constructed to "green" standards - LEED,BREEAM or DGNB. Many RuGBC members are working on such projects. Due to their relatively simple exterior design, they are often referred to as "sheds".
7. Green Office
Green workspaces are at the core of Green Building - providing pleasant, healthy and productive places for today's information driven society.
Today in Russia there are only a handful of "Green Offices" - such as those at Deutsche Bank, Jones Lang Lasalle or Siemens. However the number is growing - due to their attractiveness both to employers and employees alike.
8. Russai 2030

Pledge to make your building carbon neutral by 2030!
The 2030 Challenge has been accepted by hundreds of building owners and is now coming to Russia with RuGBC.
Buildings are the major source of global demand for energy and materials that produce by-product greenhouse gases (GHG). Slowing the growth rate of GHG emissions and then reversing it is the key to addressing climate change and keeping global average temperature below 2°C above pre-industrial levels.
9. Research & training for Green Building
This initiative is to work closely with leading Universities and technical institutions to provide two way knowledge exchange into the state of green building in Russia. On the one hand this involves carrying out research first hand from our members, on the other it involves delivering courses of various kinds, from a few hours to Masters' courses.
10. Green BIM
This initiative headed by Buro Ecoseven aims to sped up the introduction of BIM technology into the Russian market, specifically "Green" BIM - Energy, Accustic, Lighting modelling.
